Brooke Mueller Back in Los Angeles for "Aggressive" Outpatient Rehab

Posted by bryansarnold Comments (0)

Welcome back!

In December, Brooke Mueller decided to check herself into a rehab facility instead of doing outpatient treatment for substance abuse to stay out of the media spotlight. And now, E! News learns that Charlie Sheen‘s ex has returned to Los Angeles.

But she’s not finished yet…

MORE: Brooke Mueller Rethinks Outpatient Rehab, Checks Into Long-Term Treatment

Her rep Steve Honig tells E! News, “After successfully completing an intensive three-month drug and alcohol treatment program, Brooke returned to Los Angeles yesterday and has immediately begun an aggressive outpatient program that includes a sober companion. Brooke is feeling better than ever before, and is committed to continuing treatment for as long as necessary to maintain her total and complete sobriety.”

For the past year, the mother of two has been seeking treatment in Utah (which may or may not have been at the same location as Demi Moore) after being arrested in Aspen on suspicion of felony cocaine possession and booked on a misdemeanor third-degree assault charge in December.

19 Kids and Counting Alleged Extortion Plot: Take a Look at the "Compromising Photo" of Amy Duggar

Posted by bryansarnold Comments (0)

Amy Duggar, James Garrett Courtesy of James Garrett

It doesn’t seem all that risqué to us.

Maybe that’s why 56-year-old James Garrett laughed the whole thing off.

But before we start making assumptions, let’s get a little back story on everything that happened with the alleged extortion plot, and hear what Garrett had to tell E! News about the ongoing situation.

MORE: 19 Kids and Counting Alleged Extortion Plot: Singer Laughs Off “Intimate Photos”

In case you don’t remember, Iowa photographer Teresa Hunt is charged with one count of extortion after she allegedly demanded that 19 Kids and Counting be canceled or for TLC’s parent company, Discovery, pay her $10,000 for the “intimate” photo of Garrett and Amy Duggar that she had.

The photo in question, obtained by E! News, shows Amy, 25, and James posing at a restaurant called McFarlands during lunch after Amy performed at James’ “A Tribute to John Denver” show at the Branson Imax complex.

MORE: 19 Kids and Counting‘s Duggar Family Target of Alleged Extortion Plot Over “Intimate” Photos

“Amy and I have been friends for over four years now,” Garrett tells E! News. “She is a regular part of my John Denver Tribute Show in Branson, as is her mother, Deanna.”

Garrett notes that he and Amy have never gone out on a date and have never even been alone together, countering Hunt’s claim that the two were dating.

“I had just returned from New Zealand and when I got off the plane at LAX, there was an urgent message from Amy to call immediately,” said Garrett.  ”She went on to tell me someone had sent an extortion letter to the Discovery Channel detailing an affair between the two of us, complete with photos.  Amy and I just busted out laughing because we knew there were no pictures and absolutely nothing to back up the claims.”

MORE: Duggars Want Jesus for President, Settle for Endorsing Rick Santorum

Garrett had no idea that the individual trying to extort him was Hunt, his personal photographer and friend of two years.

“When I returned to Branson, management gave me a letter which berated me in every way imaginable and spoke of an affair I was having with Amy,” said Garrett.  ”It was at that moment I realized it was Teresa who had sent the extortion letter, and I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that my own photographer would betray me in this way.”

Garrett says he immediately got in touch with the FBI and they would eventually confirm it was Hunt that had sent the letter.

“She never showed any signs that she might be capable of doing something like this,” said Garrett.  ”Maybe it was jealously, maybe it was money, maybe it was the need for attention. She got the attention for sure.”

Miffed That The Bodyguard Isn’t Available on Netflix Streaming? Buy a Piece of the Movie Instead!

Posted by bryansarnold Comments (0)

The Bodyguard, Whitney Houston Kasdan Pictures

Disgruntled fans of The Bodyguard have good reason to sing “I Have Nothing.”

A mini uproar erupted yesterday when observers pointed out that the movie was no longer available for streaming on Netflix.

Conspiracy theorists quickly went into overdrive, speculating that its disappearance—which coincided with the media frenzy surrounding star Whitney Houston‘s death and funeral—might have been a canny ploy to get people to buy the movie on home video instead.

So was it?

MORE: Whitney Houston, RIP: Singer Laid to Rest at Fairview Cemetery

Nope, that’s bogus.

Newspaper publisher and Huffington Post contributor Dan McDermott first stirred up talk about The Bodyguard going MIA from Netflix’s streaming catalog yesterday, but the company quickly shot that down.

Apparently, their license to stream it expired last year, which squelches any speculation that anyone was trying to profit from DVD sales.

A spokesperson for the company told Digital Trends, “Netflix has [The Bodyguard] on DVD but not streaming. We haven’t had it on streaming since the license expired last year. Nothing to do with Ms. Houston’s unfortunate and untimely death.”

So there you have it.

Not satisfied with just watching The Bodyguard? Well, how about actually owning a piece of the movie!

According to reports, wardrobe that Houston wore in the film will be auctioned off, giving die-hard fans a tangible memento of the fallen pop diva.

The items—a black dress, a vest and earrings—came into the possession of celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien this past weekend, and they’ll be part of an auction featuring items worn by other stars, from Clark Cable to Charlie Chaplin.

All together, Houston’s The Bodyguard items are expected to fetch upward of $2,000.

“It’s a celebration of her life,” explains Julien. “These items are historic now that she passed. They become a part of history.”

Indeed, just like the late, great pop icon who once donned them.

Royals evergreen blog tile

Ladies and gentlemen, our long international animal-loving nightmare is over: Kate Middleton has finally revealed the name of her and Prince William‘s puppy, a secret that’s been guarded tighter than the crown jewels.

The doggy disclosure came while the duchess was on one of her now increasingly frequent charity visits, this time to a school in a disadvantaged area of Oxford in support of the Art Room, one of the charities she has recently become patron of.

So, what’s the royal pup’s name? Fido? Rover? Harry (what, royals can’t have a sense of humor?)? It’s…

Lupo!

Prince William’s temporarily solo half let slip the moniker—Italian for wolf—of her new black cocker spaniel puppy during a watercolor lesson at the Art Room’s facility in the Rose Hill Primary School.

According to the Telegraph, one of the students handed her a stuffed dog to play with after learning she had a puppy. “Why don’t we call it after my dog?” she said. “He’s called Lupo.”

The organization aims to teach children self-esteem and confidence through art, and Middleton assisted in a class for 7- and 8-year-olds during her visit.

For the occasion, “Miss Catherine,” as she was dubbed by the kids, accepted flowers, greeted schoolchildren and their parents (and assorted other fans) before jumping in herself, donning a black apron over her $250 (on sale!) Orla Kiely Birdie jacquard dresscoat—which, yes, sold out in the U.K. within minutes of Middleton’s appearance.

Doggone it.

Fellow idiot Galifianakis was also along for the ride in the parade, following closely behind Will’s float, yet decided to go a slightly subtler way than his costar and donned a mask.

You’re going to have a good time.’”

He adds, “It’s slightly ominous, almost like it’s going to be fraternity hazing or something. But I don’t know what to expect. I’m not going to try to predict [what happens], and I think it’s going to be crazy and fun.”

Khloé & Lamar Season Premiere: Uh-Oh, Why Does She Feel "Rejected"?

Posted by bryansarnold Comments (0)

They’re ba-aaack!

The second season of Khloe Lamar premiered tonight and it was off to a hot start (and this is before the titular stars relocate to Dallas), with Khloé  Kardashian Odom set on keeping her marriage with Lamar Odom “spicy and new.” Too bad her husband isn’t really feeling it, leading Khloé to wonder whether their marriage still has the spark.

Plus, Lamar’s bromance with Rob Kardashian hits a major snag after Rob decides to move out. So are the two men in Khloé’s life able to kiss and make up?

MORE: Khloé  Lamar: They’ll Make You Believe in Love!

“Our relationship is phenomenal. We are so in love with each other,” Khloé gushes at the beginning of the episode. “The most important thing to me right now is showing Lamar how much I love him.” Wanting to keep the honeymoon phase going for awhile, Khloé decides to install a sex swing in her house. The couple decides to try and use the swing…but it breaks and ruins the moment. “The freaking thing falls out of the ceiling! I’m embarrassed!” Khloé says.

Still, Khloé is determined to keep things hot; she buys a lot of sex toys and puts them all over her bedroom. She’s excited to bring Lamar into the room, but he says he’s tired. “My feelings are a little hurt,” Khloé admits. “I feel rejected.” Khloé is confused by Lamar’s reaction to her advances and tries to figure out what’s wrong. “With Khloé, it goes beyong lovemaking,” Lamar says, adding that he’s happy just to chill with his wife.

Much to Lamar’s dismay, Rob has decided to move out of their house. “It was like one day all of a sudden he wanted to move,” Lamar says. “Me and Rob are extremely tight. I love having Rob around.”

Rob is a little mad at Lamar for not coming to his Dancing With the Stars performances because Lamar has a lot of free time during the NBA lockout. “Lamar’s never had any siblings before,” Khloé  explains of her husband. ”I always put Lamar’s name down [on the guest list], but you never know if he’s going to show up,” Rob says.

While working out, Lamar tries to call Rob, who is sending him right through to voicemail. “That’s disrespectful,” Lamar says. The next day, Rob bails on lunch with the couple and Lamar says he’s not surprised, but he’s “hurt” by Rob’s behavior. When at the gym with her brother, Khloe talks about his relationship with Lamar, who is late for their workout. Lamar and Rob have a confrontation outside the gym over who is in the wrong—and both leave angry and upset while Khloé feels like she can’t choose either side.

Lamar decides to go and visit Rob at his new place and the two talk out their issues. “I felt like you never reached out to me,” Rob says. “I want to be real emotional with you.I take it to heart when you’re not in my life.” Lamar explains that he never had a brother or family, so he’s not used to showing a certain side of himself. “I’m not as sentimental,” Lamar says, saying he was raised “to be on his own.”

No can’t they all just get along?

Stars and Family Celebrate Whitney Houston in a Rousing, Soulful "Home Going"

Posted by bryansarnold Comments (0)

Whitney Houston Casket

On any other day, this would have just been a who’s who of RB, soul, pop and gospel luminaries.

But the impressive number of stars gathered Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., were paying tribute and saying their goodbyes to Whitney Houston, whose sudden death a week ago rocked the music world.

Hundreds of mourners, among them Tyler Perry, Mary J. Blige, Kevin Costner, Clive Davis, Dionne Warwick, Alicia Keys and Newark mayor Cory Booker attended the private funeral, which started shortly after noon.

Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, who vowed to be there in support of their 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, arrived at the church but left shortly thereafter. Brown was spotted being consoled by fellow mourners before leaving. Although there were reports that Brown was not permitted inside the building, Brown subsequently released a statement saying that he and his children had been asked to change seats several times and that he was prevented from seeing Bobbi Kristina, and thus “departed as I refused to create a scene.”

MORE: Ray J to Whitney: “I Miss You So Much…Your Smile Will Live in My Heart Forever”

The deeply spiritual service, which was hosted by Warwick and featured a eulogy by pastor Marvin Winans, who officiated at Brown and Houston’s wedding, began with both the New Hope Mass Choir and the New Jersey Mass Choir singing “The Lord Is My Shepherd.”

At around 9:35 a.m., the singer’s remains arrived in a golden hearse at the church, which was patrolled by police officers on horseback while a SWAT team monitored from nearby rooftops.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson was among the first to arrive. Standing outside the church, he told reporters, “We feel such awesome pain, the suddenness of Whitney’s transition…Forty-eight years is not a very long time. Sometimes bright lights burn out quickly. But when we have them, we get so much illumination. From her, we got that joy.”

Also outside was Houston’s grade-school principal from her days in South Orange, Henry Hamilton. “It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining,” he told reporters. “She’s up there; this is Whitney’s day.”

Fans gathered in two areas near the church, but police encouraged them to step aside. While several fans sang, one enterprising man sold buttons with Houston’s image.

Aretha Franklin was expected to perform at the service, but she didn’t attend. The soul legend released a statement saying that although she wanted to be there, “I had terrible leg spasms following my concert last night” and was sad to be unable to make it. Keys stepped in for Franklin and performed instead. Inside the church, a choir, whose members were all decked out in glorious white outfits, sang and clapped jubilantly as guests filled the building.

Bobbi Kristina arrived just as the service was about to begin, and Newark mayor Cory Booker opened the proceedings by saying: “May we understand that while we weep now, weeping may endure through the night, but joy—joy cometh in the morning.”

Warwick introduced Perry, who remembered his beloved friend: “There are two constants that I know about Whitney Houston. There was a grace that carried her fom heaven down through Miss Cissy Houston, a grace that brought her up through singing. The other thing I know for sure: Whitney Houston loved the Lord.”

Afterward, Costner, Houston’s The Bodyguard costar, spoke to the congregation and remembered how he and Houston talked about going to Baptist churches when they were growing up. “The days of church were good ones for us, and we both remembered how our parents tried to explain God, and his plan for our lives, and this promise that if we listened carefully, God’s voice would somehow come to us.”

Music played a starring role in the service: soaring, moving, rejuvenating. Keys paid tribute to Houston with a rousing rendition of her song “Prelude to a Kiss.” Before she took the mic, she said, “I think [Whitney's] an angel to us, and a beautiful human being.”

Wonder serenaded Houston with “Love’s in Need of Love Today,” while R. Kelly sang her hit, “I Look to You.” CeCe Winans belted out Houston’s tender ballad “Don’t Cry,” and afterward implored everyone to join her in singing “Jesus Loves Me,” which was the last song Houston sang in public at Kelly Price‘s pre-Grammys bash.

Houston’s extended family spoke lovingly and touchingly about the beloved pop star.

Davis, Houston’s mentor and father figure, said that “Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind. Yes, she admitted to crises in her life. Yes, she confessed to Oprah about her searing battles. But when I needed her, she was there for me.”

Sister-in-law Patricia Houston also remembered the star’s generous spirit. “Even when she was tired and a bit lost, she gave and gave, and then gave some more,” she says. “When she didn’t want to do things, she did it anyway, and we are so much better because of it.”

MORE: Aretha Franklin Jumped Out of Bed on Hearing About Whitney Houston’s Death

Rev. Marvin Winans, who officiated at Houston’s marriage to Brown, delivered a galvanizing eulogy that lasted for almost an hour. Throughout, he broke into song and enjoined the congregation to affirm the day’s positive message of remembrance and tribute.

As he wrapped up, he said: “Father, we thank you for this life of Whitney Elizabeth ‘Nippy’ Houston. We thank you that she was a dear friend, and we echo all the sentiments of those who have come to show their love…Let us leave here recognizing that Whitney left too soon. Let us leave here impacted by her life.” He then launched into a tender rendition of “Let The Church Say Amen,” as the choir joined him in song.

Afterward, pallbearers carried the star’s casket down the aisle as “I Will Always Love You” played on the sound system, her singular voice reverberating across the church.

A VIP reception was being held following the service at One Newark Center, with Tyler Perry and Kevin Costner among the guests who attended.

Police set up a six-block perimeter around the church to discourage crowds from forming, and no large video screens were set up outside to show the proceedings. Instead, a small number of cameras allowed inside covered the service for TV and webcasts.

“We’re going to church and we’re not going to be worried about if the world can get in,” Winans told CNN’s Anderson Cooper a couple of days ago.

The city was ready for the crush, however. Two staging areas were set up, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger, and New Jersey Transit planned to have extra light rail cars and buses running to accommodate demand.

A smaller group, including Davis and Warwick, attended a private viewing at Whigham Funeral Home late Friday afternoon.

Houston was born in Newark and her family moved to East Orange when she was 4. She will be laid to rest tomorrow at Fairview Cemetery alongside her father, John Russell Houston Jr., who died in 2003.

Today, flags at Newark’s municipal buildings and at state buildings flew at half-staff on order from Booker and Gov. Chris Christie.

Bobby Brown’s Special Whitney Houston Moment with New Edition

Despite some seating issues earlier during today’s emotional memorial service for Whitney Houston, the show goes on for Bobby Brown.

The late icon’s ex-husband hit the stage Saturday night with his group New Edition for a concert in Connecticut, and he found a touching way to acknowledge her.

The singer joined his bandmates on stage at the Mohegan Sun Arena three songs in, to serenade the sold-out crowd with “Hit Me Off.”

Bobby not only received a standing ovation but took a moment and raised a finger heavenward in honor of the legendary songstress, offering: ”Blessings to my ex-wife, Whitney Houston. I love you.”

After Houston’s death, the status of Brown’s participation on tour was understandably uncertain after he missed performances in Cincinnati and Nashville and then regrouped days later for shows in Memphis, Baltimore and Greensboro and now at Mohegan Sun.

Brown is expected on stage again tomorrow at the Newark PAC in New Jersey.
